Low Vision Rehabilitation Helps Macular Degeneration Patients See Better

Just because you have macular degeneration or other eye diseases like diabetic retinopathy doesn’t mean you must give up life’s pleasures like reading, watching your grandchildren across the room, or seeing signs at a distance. “People don’t know that there are doctors who are very experienced in low vision rehabilitation” says Dr. Thomas Azman, a low vision optometrist. “Our job is to figure out everything and anything possible  to keep a person functioning visually,” says Dr. Azman.

Bonnie Dimuth, a low vision patient (pictured above), says “These telescopic glasses make driving much easier. I have to admit, I was a bit nervous about the way they looked, but now I am so happy with the way I see, I think they are beautiful.”
