Just because you have macular degeneration or other eye diseases like diabetic retinopathy doesn’t mean you must give up life’s pleasures like reading, watching your grandchildren across the room, or seeing signs at a distance. “People don’t know that there are doctors who are very experienced in low vision rehabilitation” says Dr. Thomas Azman, a low vision optometrist. “Our job is to figure out everything and anything possible to keep a person functioning visually,” says Dr. Azman.
